Loft Boarding Services in Manchester & Across the UK

Practical Loft Storage Solutions that Work with Your Insulation, Not Against It

Most lofts are wasted space. You might throw a few boxes up there, balanced on joists with nowhere solid to stand, and call it storage. But it does not have to be that way. A properly boarded loft gives you a safe, accessible area that actually works for storing the things you need to keep but do not want cluttering up the rest of your home.

We provide loft boarding services from our base in Manchester, covering Greater Manchester and UK-wide.

Why Board Your Loft?

The benefits are straightforward:

  • Practical storage space: A boarded loft gives you a solid, stable surface to store boxes, suitcases, seasonal items and everything else that tends to pile up.
  • Protects your insulation: Without boarding, insulation gets compressed every time someone walks across the joists or stores something heavy on top of it. Compressed insulation loses its effectiveness. Boarding prevents that.
  • Safer access: Walking across bare joists is awkward at best and dangerous at worst. A boarded floor means you can move around the loft safely.
  • Adds value to your property: A usable loft space is a genuine selling point when the time comes.
  • Makes the most of space you already have: Before you think about an extension or a shed, consider what is already above your head.

How Our Loft Boarding Works

We use raised boarding systems that sit above your loft insulation rather than on top of it. This is an important detail. If boards are laid directly onto the insulation, they compress it and reduce its thermal performance. Our raised system keeps the insulation at full depth while giving you a solid floor above.

Here is how the process works:

  1. Survey of your loft to check the joist layout, insulation depth and available space
  2. Raised framework fitted above the insulation level
  3. Boarding panels secured to the framework, creating a solid, level floor
  4. Loft hatch upgrade if needed, so you can access the space easily
  5. Tidy up and final check to make sure everything is secure and level

Most loft boarding jobs in Manchester and the surrounding area are completed within a day. Larger lofts or more complex layouts may take a little longer.

Loft Boarding and Insulation Together

If your loft insulation needs replacing before boarding, we can handle both as part of the same project. It makes sense to get the insulation right first, then board over the top. That way you get the thermal performance you need and the storage space you want, without one compromising the other.

We also carry out loft insulation removal if the existing material needs to come out before new insulation and boarding can go in.

How Much Does Loft Boarding Cost?

The cost of loft boarding depends on the size of the area being boarded, whether a raised system is required, and whether any insulation work is needed at the same time.

We provide a clear quote after the initial survey, so you know exactly what you are paying for. No surprises.
